We Are Dual Citizen

Dual Citizen is a community-focused brewhouse born from a few simple beliefs. An understanding that substance beats trends. An appreciation that community roots run the deepest. And the knowledge that what unites us is far greater than what divides us.

Our core beliefs shine through in all we do. They manifest in every recipe we craft, every pint we serve, and every conversation we foster. We’re not about chasing trends or trying to recreate another city’s vibe. We are about modern, inspired takes on familiar favorites. Prompting a more meaningful discussion. Purposefully bridging gaps and uniting our community around shared values, shared responsibilities. As Citizens, that is our duty and our obligation.

We are proud to call the Twin Cities home. No matter which side of the river you’re from, we are all Twin Citizens. That’s why we celebrate our heritage, draw inspiration from the region, and source local, seasonal ingredients whenever possible. We aim to use the bounty of our area to elevate both the beer we brew and the community we call home. The result is a brewery that is not only a reflection on, but a reflection of, our community.

That’s who we are and what we celebrate. We hope you’ll join our Citizenry.

What does being a Dual Citizen mean to you?

Born in Minneapolis and raised in Saint Paul, I have always considered myself a Dual Citizen of the Twin Cities. To me this means looking past the petty rivalries and embracing the notion that our differences define the best parts of our shared culture. We are better together than we are apart, and the unique combination of seemingly contradictory dualities is what makes Minneapolis/Saint Paul unlike anywhere else in the world.

What does being a Dual Citizen mean to you?

It means existing in multiple places, multiple mindsets at the same time. Not only am I a citizen of my neighborhood, but also my city. Not only my city, but also my state. Not only my state, but also country. Not only my country, but all of this planet. It’s important for everyone to understand that we are more than who and where we are at any specific moment. That should influence how we think, live, and act in everything we do.

What does being a Dual Citizen mean to you?

Coursework from three different programs at the U of MN divided my time equally amongst all campuses. It was great; one University, two cities. We’re so fortunate to have two metro areas sharing a border. I believe the Mississippi River deserves credit for this. It’s our backbone and continues to provide us with evolving industries, recreation and natural resources. Rivers can act as borders and barriers but that’s not the case here. It’s very Minnesotan to share something so essential and beneficial. We are two cities united, not divided. Simply put, two is greater than one.
